A Well Lived Life

Golden "Goldie" Mewler
September 24th, 2005-July 4th, 2006
Goldie was intensely curious; he would peer into bathtub water and sometimes tumble in. Goldie was mischievous, attacking ears, jumping into a basket of hot muffins, he was sighted on the roof several times. It seems he lived his life with the utmost passion and energy. No matter the task at hand, he was fully invested. He knew no limits, but showed good social judgment with other animals. His temperament was congenial, loving; he was relaxed and easy going with everyone. He did not discriminate with his affection. His personality and behavior aroused reactions and feelings from those who knew him. He spread joy and laughter to people who never even met him, but who were kept appraised of his latest antics.

I admired Goldie and believe the way he lived his short life can be an example to us all. Stretch! Jump! Run! Play! Purr!
Comfort words spoken by my brother ring true...

Sometimes the brightest stars burn out the fastest.

I miss you Goldie, and I’ll love you forever.

My mom cared for Goldie for eight weeks. She grew to love him and wrote this tribute:
Died on the 4th of July

There was a young cat
His life was brief.
He knew not the meaning
Of defeat.

He lived life bold.
Leaping great heights.
His coat so gold.
He was total delight!

His season short,
He touched us all.
Grooming and licking with
Nary a fall.

He took a long ride,
With us grieving inside.
As he rode on the seat in the car,
Our thoughts with the travelers far.

Hot as a fire cracker
His fever it grew.
He knew freedom and roamed
Now he’s headed home.

With parades galore,
Stars and Stripes flying,
Fireworks blazing above.
He left the world with abundant love.

This fine young cat,
Goldie by name,
Forever in our hearts He does remain.
