Serial Drowning

The mouse drowning has escalated dramatically in the past week.

• 5/2/09: A small pink mouse found soaked next to water bowl
• 5/3/09: A small blue mouse floating water bowl has tinted their water aqua
• 5/4/09: I awaken to find two mice, one brown and realistic looking and two a pink mouse floating in their bowl. After coming home from work a small tan mouse is floating in the water bowl.

Cats look upon their food area as part of their territory, and that particular area of their territory usually doesn't change from day to day - so the cats are most likely putting their favourite toys away in a "safe" place. Being solo predators by nature, cats don't have a pack mentality, because their survival doesn't rely on being an accepted member of a group. They are much more concerned about having territory than status. It's one of the reasons that cats and dogs can get on so well together, because cats won't care if the dog regards them as the lowest ranking members of the family pack, as long as they can feel in control of territory.
